Stanley Park Red Cedar Burl
Cedar
This red cedar burl came from Stanley Park. When the tree came down, a local woodworker kept it rather than send it to the chipper -- he had an eye for what was worth saving. It sat in his garage for over forty years before it came to me. Forty years is a long time for a piece of wood to wait. Cedar burl like this looks like it has something to say from the outside. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it keeps its own counsel.
Looking after it
A wipe with a damp cloth, never the dishwasher, and a little food-safe oil when the wood looks dry. Don't overthink it - wood is hardy and resilient, and everything I make is meant to be used.
